Perceptions and attitudes of Qatar University students regarding the utility of arabic and english in communication and education in Qatar

Abstract This study investigates the linguistic attitudes and perceptions of Qatar University students regarding utility vitality two languages that define education communication scenes in Qatar, namely, Arabic English. It also reports on predictors these terms demographic traits. 861 completed a questionnaire was divided into: Media Language Preference (MLP); Value Symbolism (VSA); Education Society (AES); Medium Instruction (MOI); Impact Al-Jazeera Network (IJN); English Scientific Professional Communication (ESPC); Qatari Cultural Identity (QCI); Books (AB); Work (ESW); Workplace (LIW); Employment (AE); Status (SA); Manifestations Sociocultural (MSI). Results showed got higher ratings for MLP, VSA, AES, MOI, QCI, MSI, while perceived as more useful than ESPC. Correlational analysis Gender had significant correlations with ESPC, Nationality, Specialization, Number spoken MLP MOI.
